This Tuesday the Mayor and certain members of council are going to pass the OCP without the citizens of Port Moody having the democratic god given right to tell them what their opinions are, It is the right of all free people to voice their concerns. The Mayor and certain councillors have and are playing lapdogs to the developers who wish to turn our small piece of heaven into MetroTown East and then take their profits and leave us the citizens with pollution, heavy traffic and crime while they return to their upscale million dollar houses and secure condos. No one has the right to muzzle the voices of free people. The Mayor and councillors have buried the OCP in a 557 page agenda, they have not notified the public in a proper and ethical way. Today I received an email from the city notifying me about the 4th reading and the vote. Sneaky way of doing things, just before the long weekend when people have gone away. You as a voter have the democratic right to know what your elected official are doing. They obviously do not want you to know. Let them know that if they vote in the OCP, you will vote them out. Email them, phone them and let them know that they do not have the right to silence the voter.

I could not have worded it better Louis. Vote accordingly my fellow residents. It is our turn and every vote counts. We cannot have this for 4 more years. Contrary to what you are being told the OCP is not sustainable but nice and lucrative for developers and prospectors. It fills the City with tax dollars to pay for their pet projects.

I just want to put this out there. Staff and Council lied to us on the referendum question. I contacted Cathy LeBlanc at the Ministry of Community planning and development and she confirmed there is provisions to hold a referendum on the OCP. I emailed Council and staff a copy of this fact and they still misled the electorate and even ignored me. Not one Councillor had the guts to at least table a motion to hold a referendum on the OCP. Actions speak louder than words.

Port Moody has become a banana republic under this bunch.

    Port Moody resident 43 years.
