June 25, 2019: Public hearing — Marcon development proposal for 43 townhouses 2800 block St George south side

Update: Following the public hearing, council voted to approve this proposal. The item was over in less than one minute with no discussion on merits or demerits of the proposal. Very surprising that no one voiced an opinion on this significant development application.

On May 28, 2019, council approved sending this matter to public hearing. Complete package available here.

Public input can be provided in-person at the public hearing and/or in writing to clerks@portmoody.ca before 12:00 noon on the day of the hearing. The matter will go to the regular council meeting following the public hearing.

The location consists of 7 single-family lots in the Heritage Character Area of Moody Centre. The heritage home at the western end of the block would be retained (and sold), with 43 townhouse units constructed on the remaining six lots, about half facing St George Street and the other half facing Hope Street (currently functioning as a rear-access lane).

The floor area ratio is stated as 1.05, more than double the maximum for single-family homes. The calculation likely factors in the one SFH to be retained on the block.
